Claiming Coverage
The Kentucky HBPA Inc. will provide self-funded Claiming Coverage to all owners who have a signed Kentucky HBPA Membership card, under the following conditions:
- (A) The Kentucky HBPA will pay one-half of the claiming price up to $10,000 to any qualified owner, provided that the claimed horse died within 24 hours of being claimed, as a result of an injury sustained during sustained during the race from which it was claimed.

- (B) A practicing veterinarian licensed to practice by the Kentucky Racing Authority certifies that the horse died during the race or
That he or she euthanized the claiming horse for the reason set forth in (A) above within twenty-four hours of the race in which the horse was claimed.

(C) Trainer of the claimed horse signed a Kentucky HBPA Membership card

(D) Claiming of the horse was made at a racetrack licensed by Kentucky Racing Authority.

(E) The Owner who files a claim for payment hereunder represents that he or she has no insurance coverage that will otherwise cover this loss, and further agrees that if any insurance coverage does exist, then any benefits/coverage offered hereunder will be secondary to any such policy covering this loss. Any insurance which Owner may otherwise have is primary in nature, and Kentucky HBPA will not pay benefits where the primary insurance pays for the loss.
